Ophthalmic Technician | Eye Center | Day Shift | Full-time
Overview The Ophthalmic Technician/Assistant participates in the care of patients in a clinic setting by: performing ophthalmic examinations such as, visual acuity, tonometry and lensometry; performing diagnostic, technical testing, such as, automated visual field assessment, Goldman visual fields, placing patients in rooms, preparing patients for exams/procedures and providing patient/family support. Assures appropriate visits notes, tests results prepared and are available for visit. Maintains clinic environment including supplies and equipment. Qualifications Minimum Education and Experience Requirements: Completion of a one-year formal COT training program, followed by successfully passing the JCAHPO COT certification exam. Completion of annual continuing education credits. Basic knowledge of computers. Person should display initiative, has the ability to be multitasking and be able to take on responsibilities. Proven ability to problem-solve and be a team member is essential. Motor Vehicle Operator Designation: Will not operate vehicles for an assigned business purpose NOTE: A frequent driver is defined as one who uses his/her personal or Shands automobile a) at least once daily, b) at least five individual trips per week or c) drives, on average, over 150 miles per week in the performance of his/her job. Please indicate the appropriate operator designation on the Request for Personnel (RFP) form at the time a RFP is submitted to post the position. Licensure/Certification/Registration: Certified Ophthalmic Technician or Certified Ophthalmic Assistant. Certificate in Basic Life Support
