Anderson Cancer Center is to eliminate cancer in Texas, the nation, and the world through outstanding programs that integrate patient care, research, and prevention, and through education for undergraduate and graduate students, trainees, professionals, employees, and the public. **Summary** Conducts various tests and assists with all aspects of diagnostic evaluation of ophthalmic patients. **Job Function** Impacts the care received by ophthalmic patients. + Records the ophthalmic history of the patient. + Performs the preliminary assessment and recording of visual acuity, color vision testing, schirmer testing, visual field exams, ocular motility, pupil assessment and refraction. + Provides ophthalmic surgical assistance in the clinic procedure room. + Performs Humphrey visual testing and various types of eye photography to include fluorescein angiography. + Assumes responsibility for the maintenance and care of the equipment and surgical instruments. + Ensures adequate levels of supplies. + Serves as a mentor/instructor to ophthalmic assistants in patient care and proper use of equipment. + Other duties as assigned. **Education** **Required** : High school graduation or equivalent. **Experience** **Required** : Five years related experience. **License/Certification** All of the following: Upon Hire: Certified as an Ophthalmic Technician (COT) from the Joint Commission on Allied Health Personnel in Ophthalmology and Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association.
