OPS Instructional Designer
Job Description:The Opportunity:
The University of Florida College of Journalism and Communications seeks two (2) OPS Instructional Designers to work for the CJC Distance Education. We will be hiring one (1) full-time (1.0 FTE) OPS Instructional Designer and one (1) part-time (0.50 FTE) OPS Instructional Designer to assist the team.
The OPS Instructional Designer will work collaboratively with instructors and subject matter experts (SMEs) to design and develop online graduate-level courses that demonstrate Adult Learning Principles, Best Practices in Online Education, and Learner Engagement that meets/exceeds Quality Matters standards.
Some duties of this position include:
Uses industry-leading authoring tools to develop and maintain course templates, related course syllabi, and communications. Tools include, but are not limited to, Canvas with CidiLabs/Design Tools, Camtasia, Articulate Rise & Storyline, Play Posit, Harmonize, Adobe Suite, MS Office, and Zoom. Provides project leadership for multiple learning projects/class developments simultaneously from concept to completion, including but not limited to conducting needs assessments, creating curriculum and learning aids to assist in the transfer of knowledge, skills, and abilities, crafting course maps, reviewing/finalizing syllabi, building course pages, assessments, discussions, and assignments, plus creating visual aids, infographics, interactive content, videos, and audio assets. Including creating course scope, timeline, deliverables, and materials. Evaluate the effectiveness of learning materials and courses, including quality assurance course reviews. Interview SMEs and researchers to develop instructional content. Works with Media Project Manager to ensure video lectures are best in class for courses. Works with members of the UF CJC community. Provides analytical support and evaluation of course material to ensure the realization of learning objectives, plus alignment of learning objectives with instructional materials, assessments, and assignments. Supports and guides instructors through the entire course development process. Ensures all course builds adhere to UF policies/procedures and federal accessibility guidelines, plus avoid copyright infringements. Tracks the status of all projects in the Monday.com software program and maintains course development files for each course build/rebuild in Google Drive. Facilitates and/or presents webinar training to faculty, instructors, and team members. Expected Salary:$28-$30 per hour
Minimum Requirements:Master’s degree in Education, Curriculum, or Instructional Design and four years of relevant experience; or a bachelor's degree in an appropriate area and six years of relevant experience in Curriculum Development and Instructional Design. Familiar with Quality Matters (either with certifications or willing to obtain certifications via online courses). Lives/works in the Eastern time zone.
Preferred Qualifications: Master’s degree with teaching and curriculum development experience (secondary or postsecondary) Professional ID certifications, plus professional certifications in Camtasia and Articulate 360. Familiar with Quality Matters or willing to take two professional development courses by Quality Matters upon position acceptance (online courses). Lives/works in the Eastern time zone.
