Job Description:

Duties Bioinformatics & HPC

Run or develop bioinformatic pipelines (Linux/bash, Python) on UF’s HiPerGator supercomputer for metagenomic analyses. Work with UFIT Research Computing staff to troubleshoot and optimize large-scale data workflows. Laboratory Work Extract DNA/RNA from environmental samples and prepare libraries for metagenomics. Maintain lab protocols and organize sample inventories. Field & Logistics Assist in coordinating logistics for oceanographic cruises (e.g., R/V Falkor, R/V Atlantis). Support sample collection and field research activities. Outreach & Accessibility Participate in efforts to make science accessible to diverse communities. Contribute ideas for lab outreach events and digital content Expected Salary:

$15/ hour

Minimum Requirements:

At least 2 years of college experience at a local south Florida college or university.   

Preferred Qualifications: Proactive and detail-oriented, with strong organizational skills. Basic Linux/Unix command-line knowledge; scripting (bash/Python) a plus. Interest in high-performance computing, large-scale data analysis, molecular biology, and fieldwork. Background in biology or computer science (or both). Team player with strong problem-solving abilities. Special Instructions to Applicants:
