Principal Accountabilities 

A documented weekly check (undocumented daily checks) of the personal safety equipment and any other departmental safety factors, of employees within their department, to ensure that it is being worn properly and is in good repair

In an emergency the Trainer will assist Supervisor(s) in managing the evacuation of Stakeholders, assist in the head count, and assist Supervisor(s) in a sweep of the area if possible

Conduct periodic safety tours with the Supervisor(s) to identify unsafe conditions and unsafe acts

Perform any safety related functions deemed necessary and pertinent by the Supervisor(s) and Plant Manager

Behavioral Based Safety Observation [BBS] – note each observation and follow up with at risk behaviors.  – Train, participate and conduct BBS Audits and Observation Reviews. Attend Bi- weekly BBS observation meetings

Help with LIFE Savers – communications and field checks

Assist/Conduct departmental monthly safety meetings

Assist management in disbursement and reinforcement of safety material, policies, rules, etc

Lead the Forklift Certification Process and Program 

Participate in the Ergonomics Team 

Perform the Annual Authorized Stakeholder Lock Out / Tag out Audits and Periodic Inspections 

Look for hazards on the production floor and create notification if needed

Near Miss Program - Participate and Champion the program

Monthly EHS inspections

Updating JTP’s

All other duties as assigned

​​​​Required Qualifications

Must be able to read and write English

Computer skills a plus, however if not skilled, must be willing and able to learn documenting, filing, and computer skills

Must be willing and able to communicate well and always maintain a professional business-like attitude and relationship with the Stakeholders being trained as well as with the Supervision and Management that must be worked with daily

Receive Annual Training in Hazard Recognition/Awareness to complete the daily PPE Surveys for their departments and weekly department Safety Checklists (Safety Scan)

Receive annual Fire Extinguisher Training

Receive Bloodborne Pathogens Training

Receive Basic First Aid and CPR Training as deemed necessary

Periodic Shift flexibility: (1st and 2nd) 

Preferred Qualifications

Fluent in Spanish (read/write) 

1 year experience in leading Team
