Supports activities for thin film coating processes, including coating design, tooling design, process development, qualification, and process documentation, and support of coating operations including specification and installation of new equipment, substrate cleaning, deposition, inspection, and characterization. Assist in monitoring of process controls parameters, and support of preventative maintenance programs and repairs for coating equipment. Supports program management and operations personnel with technical guidance on assigned projects.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities
Assists in design, development, and maintenance of thin film deposition processes on assigned projects; ensures product designs meet customer specifications and technical requirements; develops design documentation, test procedures, Bills of Materials, and manufacturing work instructions with assistance from manufacturing engineering and operations personnel. Understands and uses precision test equipment to measure optical properties of thin film coatings. Assist in design and procurement of process tooling used in thin film coating processes, with assistance from manufacturing engineering. Assists equipment maintenance personnel in developing, documenting and implementing preventative maintenance and equipment repair procedures. Responsible for red-lining router tasks with assistance from manufacturing engineering. Resolves technical issues as they arise during coating operations with assistance from manufacturing engineering, quality engineering and operations personnel; identifies root causes of manufacturing problems using analytical techniques; provides clear and concise corrective action reports. Troubleshoots product quality and production yield problems and leads corrective action teams. Supports manufacturing operations to ensure products are delivered on time. Assists Operations personnel in developing, documenting and implementing new equipment and new process maintenance procedures.Education & Experience
BS in engineering or related discipline, preferably in physics, optics, materials science, electrical or mechanical engineering Minimum of 2 years working experience; familiarity with thin film coating technologies and metrology preferredSkills
Strong verbal and written technical communication skills. Computer skills in word processing and spreadsheet software, including MS Word, Excel, Access, some CAD (Solidworks preferred), to support requirements for technical reports and analytical studies. Strong analytical, fault isolation, and problem-solving skills. DOE and SOE experience strongly desired. Strong organizational skills and attention to details required. Experience with problem analysis and resolution Demonstrated ability to achieve results independently or working with others Ability to recommend and implement improvements

Lab environment - wear appropriate cleanroom attire and PPE as required Ability to stand for hours at a time
