This position will require you to develop, implement, and maintain methods, operation sequences and processes used in the manufacture or fabrication of parts, components, subassemblies and final assemblies. You will collaborate with design engineering on the release of new lens products. You will estimate manufacturing costs, calculate time standards, and make recommendations for tooling and process requirements for new and existing product lines. You will support troubleshooting optical, electrical, and mechanical issues in production.
Under ISO 9001:2015 certification and Global Trade Compliance policies, you will thoroughly maintain records and reporting systems for coordination of manufacturing operations. Duties & Responsibilities:
Development and improvement of processes for production of infrared lensesCreate, review, and update assembly and test instructions and checklists meeting all regulatory and internal standardsSupport development of new products by creating testing report templates that confirm compliance to customer specificationsSupport production and QA with troubleshooting of issues and RMA assessmentsUse optical design software to identify then resolve issues during alignment and testing of infrared lensesTrain production technicians in existing and new processes and intermittently audit established processesImplement Lean/5S manufacturing principals and techniques to maintain an environment of continuous improvementJustify, specify, and procure new equipment and tooling as required to support development and production programsWork with the Engineering team to ensure that accurate specifications are used for product assessment and validationAlign and test optical systems using interferometry, alignment telescope, and optical inspection devices.Environmental testing of opto-mechanical systems using thermal chambers and vibration machinesKnowledge and Experience
Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in related technical discipline required5+ years of related experience desiredBasic competence with Zemax or CODEV or other optical design packageExperience with imaging optical design principles, with some lens development experienceExperience with Infra optical systems and radiometry a plusAbility to develop assembly process documentation requiredProficient computer skills, including but not limited to Word, Excel & Outlook requiredAbility to communicate clearly in written and spoken English requiredLean/5S training and experience requiredSix sigma green belt desiredApplicants must be either a U.S. citizen, U.S. national, legal permanent resident, asylee, refugee or must be eligible to apply for and obtain the appropriate export control license from the U.S. Departments of State or Commerce.
