**Summary:**
The Test, Metrology, Characterization and Data (TCMD) Team at Meta focuses on inventing new metrology and characterization methods for AR displays to move the state-of-art display and optical technologies forward for AR products, which gives people the power to build community and bring the world closer together. The TCMD team is looking for an experienced and driven Optical Metrology Engineer who will work with cross functional teams to define the requirements, lead the development, qualification and implementation of optical metrology equipment for characterizing optical modules and systems in AR products. This role is field personnel.
**Required Skills:**
Optical Metrology Engineer Responsibilities:
1. Define, design and develop optical metrology solutions including hardware engineering, test software implementation, and instrument qualification.
2. Develop benchtop and production instrumentation to characterize complex optical modules and integrated systems (display and optics).
3. Collect and perform statistical analysis on metrology data to correlate to performance metrics.
4. Explore novel optical metrology technologies and work with suppliers on prototype development.
5. Lead full cycle of tester development against engineering requirement specifications. Take complete ownership of transferring metrology technologies from R&D to mass production.
6. Establish and perform tester alignment and calibration procedures and ensure testers are performing as intended and providing accurate data.
7. Work with engineering design team(s) to clarify/refine performance metric definition for test solution implementation
8. Up to 60% domestic and international travel required.
**Minimum Qualifications:**

9. BS degree in Optical Engineering, Physics or a related technical discipline with 5+ years of experience or advanced degree in Optical Engineering, Physics, or a related technical discipline with 2+ years of experience.
10. Hands-on experience in optical metrology development from concept to system validation.
11. In-depth knowledge of imaging optics, image quality metrics, optical metrology and characterization.
12. Experience in Zemax, Code V, LightTools, FRED or other optical design/simulation tools.
13. Experience in test automation (instrument control, data collection and analysis) using LabView, Matlab or Python.
14. Proficiency in statistical data analysis using Minitab or JMP.
15. Strong communication and presentation skills.
