The Optics Rsident Engineer will focus on:
Implementation and Deployment:
Configure and deploy network equipment and services according to the design specifications. Ensure proper integration with existing customer infrastructure.Customer Support:
Provide technical support to customers during and after the deployment phase. Troubleshoot and resolve network-related issues promptly.Communicate effectively with customers to gather information, explain technical details, and ensure customer satisfaction
• A Bachelor's in Engineering or Computer Science (Electrical or Computer Engineering preferred) and 10+ years of network integration, technical support with optical network technologies.
• Technical knowledge/expertise in the following:
o Fiber Types (multimode and single-mode (Dispersion Unshifted, Dispersion Shifted and Non Zero Dispersion Shifted)) and Signal Impairments in Fiber (Loss, Dispersion and Mixing)
o Modulation / Demodulation (OOK, PSK and QAM)
o Signal Structures and Hierarchies (Ethernet, Fiber Channel, SONET, SDH and OTN)
o Fixed/Reconfigurable/Tunable/Colourless, Directionless & Contention less OADMs, In-line Optical Amplifiers, Pre- and Post-Amplifier nodal configurations, dimensioning and optimization.
o OTN, DWDM and SDH networks reliability and resiliency analysis, planning and design ( O-SNCP,E-SNCP, 1+1 OCh/OMSP) protection based schemes, Electrical GMPLS + Optical GMPLS restoration based schemes).
It would be nice if you also had:
• Technical khowledge/experience in the following:
o DWDM (1626LM, 1696MS) and SDH (1660SM, 1662SMC, 1646SMC, 1678MCC)
• Independently works within broad guidelines and uses best practices and knowledge of internal or external business issues.
• Works with substantial discretion and uses specialist knowledge, analytical skills, judgment and broad conceptual and practical experience to solve complex problems and to contribute to process improvements.
• Transfers concepts for professional direction of own organisational unit into actionable measures.
• Provides working leadership and training to less experienced personnel.
• May lead small projects with limited risks and resource requirements.
