Overview Looking to bring your optometry experience into a clinical setting? We at Fairview Health Services are looking for Optometric Assistant to work out of our Fridley Clinic! This position will also travel to our Andover, Eagan, and Brooklyn Park locations. This is a full time (80 hours every two weeks), benefit eligible position.. Pay for this role starts at $22/hr and increases based on experience. Responsibilities Job Description The Assist Optometrist participates in the smooth and efficient operation of the department. They assist in the care, treatment, and education of optometry patients. The will provide services to patients, staff, and others in a respectful and courteous manner. Acquires a complete medical and ophthalmic history, patient history, and charts procedures for medical records; performs and records visual acuities; reads old lens in lensometer and documents. Performs basic screening of muscles, pupils, and confrontational fields. Performs retinal imaging, OCT and visual fields' testing as needed. Uses Automated refractor and I-Care or tonopen to measure pressure. Autoclaves instruments for procedures and handles the ordering and dispensing of contact lens Documentation and coding for diagnosis and procedures for insurance information Assists patients with scheduling appointments; answers telephone messages when able; screens all messages before they are given to the optometrist. Qualifications Required Graduate of an Optometry Assistant program or equivalent experience Lensometer experience Preferred Graduate from an accredited Optometric Assistant program (CPO or CPOT) or Medical Assistant program Optometric/Ophthalmic experience Two or more years' experience working with contact lens We are also looking for people with the following skills: High standard of creative prioritization skills and priority setting.
