This is an hourly position. Overview POSITION SUMMARY: An optometry technician assists optometrists in providing eye care services. They perform various tasks to ensure the smooth operation of the practice, helping with patient care, diagnostic testing, and administrative duties. PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITY: Provides clerical support to the department, including but not limited patient scheduling, inventory, ensuring health and safety guidelines and ensuring efficient clinic workflow. Performs clinical tasks and procedures for patient care according to established department procedures and under the direction of the Optometrist and within the scope of Mission Partner certification and training. Administers diagnostic testing for patients for preliminary eye exams. Assists Optometrist during patient examinations and procedures. Educates the patient on their plan of care per the Optometrist’s direction. Schedules patients for return appointments or procedures as needed. Responsible for maintaining a safe working and patient care environment. Qualifications REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Education: High School Diploma/GED Licensure/ Certification: Current CPR certification through American Heart Associate within 90 days of hire. Other Skills/ Knowledge: Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Solid computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft software. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to be detail oriented. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Experience: Previous experience in an eye care setting Basic knowledge of eye anatomy and vision care Licensure/Certification: Certified Paraoptometric (CPO Certification) certification from the American Optometric Association or Joint Commission on Allied health Personnel in Ophthalmology (JCAHPO).
