**Employment Type:** Full time **Shift:** Day Shift **Description:** OR Assistant - Full-time - Days - (Mon - Fri) - OR - St. Mary's Healthcare System, Athens, GA **Position Purpose:** The OR Assistant will work in the Med/Surg Department at St. Mary's Hospital in Athens, GA. **What you will do:** The Operating Room Assistant assists the nursing staff by performing specific tasks contributing to the safety and efficient functioning of the daily OR schedule. The OR Nursing Technician assists the staff in many aspects of patient care, including but not limited to, patient care assistance, care of environment, transportation of patients, supplies/ equipment, specimens and blood products to, from and within the surgical unit. The OR Nursing Technician must be able to ambulate, lift and transfer patient as essential function of the position. **What you will need:** **A. Licensure/Certification/Registration: BLS** Certification upon hire and then every two years. **B. Education** : High School Graduate or equivalent preferred. Able to read and write English. **C. Experience: 6 months to 1 year of assisting the surgical team with procedures.** **Special Qualifications** : Knowledge and understanding of basic principles of asepsis, good dexterity, initiative to work independently. **Education:** Must be a high school graduate or have GED equivalent.
