OR Service Line Specialist

Job Summary: The Operating Room (OR) Service Line Specialist, assists the Executive Director in providing administrative, human resource, and financial management of designated perioperative specialty service lines following Association of Operating Room Nurses (AORN) standards at multiple surgical locations under Loma Linda University Medical Center License.  Collaborates with Perioperative Business Manager to control and analyze costs of service lines and identify ways to standardize and reduce expenses while maintaining quality service.  Negotiates with vendors on inventory needs and pricing.  Establishes good working relationships with service line surgeons to develop, improve, and market service lines.  Supervises and trains Registered Nurses, Surgical Technicians, and Patient Care Assistants on "best practice" for designated service line.  Serves as a role model and provides positive influence to facilitate change.  Performs other duties as needed.

Education and Experience: Associate's Degree in Nursing required; Bachelor's Degree in a healthcare- related field required or in progress.  Minimum two years clinical experience in area of service line specialty required; prior management or supervisory experience preferred.

Knowledge and Skills: Able to read; write legibly; speak in English with professional quality; use computer and software programs necessary to the position; troubleshoot and calibrate patient care equipment.  Able to relate and communicate positively, effectively, and professionally with others; be assertive and consistent in following and/or enforcing policies; work calmly and respond courteously when under pressure; lead, supervise, teach, and collaborate; accept direction.  Able to communicate effectively in English in person, in writing, and on the telephone; think critically; work independently with minimal supervision; perform basic math functions; manage multiple assignments effectively; work well under pressure; problem solve; organize and prioritize workload; recall information with accuracy; pay close attention to detail.  Able to distinguish colors and smells as necessary for patient care; hear sufficiently for general conversation in person and on the telephone; identify and distinguish various sounds associated with the work place/patient care; see adequately to read computer screens, medical records, and written documents necessary to position; discern temperature variances through touch.

Licensures and Certifications: Active California Registered Nurse (RN) license and Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
