Purpose of Role: The primary purpose of this role is to ensure security, performance and ongoing management of critical divisional applications and related Oracle databases (both on-prem and cloud-based). Responsibilities will include database administration and troubleshooting, maintenance, backup and recovery, code control/migration and user administration. Key Responsibilities:

·         Monitoring critical nightly processing

·         Research performance issues as they arise

·         Clone/refresh databases and R12 applications systems

·         RMAN backup and recoveries to clone/duplicate database as well as recover database

·         Comfortable installing Oracle software and completing disaster recovery tests

·         Identify database blocking sessions and clear out the correct session without disrupting operations by clearing a waiting session accidentally

·         Support local users with DBA requests which can include providing SQL trace and tkprof files, plus other debug files from the servers that end users are not allowed to access

·         The Oracle Applications DBA will also be required to provide Oracle Applications Administration support such as creation of users, assigning/modifying responsibilities

·         Setup new printers and diagnose printing issues

·         Support business analysts by providing information required to progress support tickets

·         Work in a team environment

·         Communicate effectively

·         Comfortable with (can read and write) SQL and Unix shell scripts

Job Knowledge/Education and Qualifications:

·         Minimum of a bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Mathematics or related field AND a minimum of five years of practical, relevant experience working as a Database Administrator

·         Hands-on experience with and working knowledge of Oracle Applications Release 12.1

·         Excellent communication and documentation skills

·         Proven ability to work directly and effectively with customers with minimal supervision

·         Ability to follow-up and triage conflicting priorities

·         Must be able to learn and keep current on technologies

·         Proven ability to identify problems, troubleshoot, analyze and plan actions necessary to resolve identified problems
