Oracle Database Administrator
TEKsystems has a client that is looking for an Oracle & Cloud Database Administrator to support a Farmington Hills Headquarters Summary Statement + Provides expertise to build and manage high performing application and reporting database environments in collaboration with application development teams. + Supports existing database environments to maintain high scalability, performance, and operational efficiency. Essential Tasks/Major Duties • Support the release and change management processes by migrating/deploying database management system (DBMS) objects and code through the software development life cycle (SDLC), in collaboration with application development teams. • Collaborate with development teams to design and build database structures that support business and technical requirements using Agile Methodologies. • Assist with the organization’s migration to cloud-native technologies like Amazon RDS. • Proactively evaluate database, application and overall system performance and make recommendations for improvements while working with cross-functional teams on implementation. • Provide input to the development organization on the creation of high performing database design and software code. • Plan and coordinate database migrations between environments. • Participate in production database support; work with application and other technical teams to resolve incidents in a timely manner. • Assist in the development of database practices and standards supporting application programming and database implementation. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities • Bachelor’s degree in information systems or related field, or equivalent years of experience. • 5+ years of working technical experience installing, configuring, and supporting database management systems; including Oracle Exadata. • 2+ years working knowledge of GoldenGate configuration, maintenance, and support. • Exposure to at least one of the following cloud platforms: Amazon Web Services (AWS), Microsoft Azure, Oracle Cloud, others. Certification is a plus. • Experience working with automation technologies like Cloud Formation and/or Terraform is a plus. • Cloud data migration experience is a plus. • Experience with Oracle 12c or higher, Oracle Advanced Security, and Oracle Enterprise Manager, Grid Infrastructure, Linux scripting, etc. • Experience with SQL queries and performance tuning. • Exposure to agile development methodologies such as Scrum and Kanban is a plus. • Good written and oral communication skills and technical documentation skills. • Ability to conduct research into database issues, standards, and products as required. • Demonstrated successful ability to build positive partnerships and work collaboratively with cross-functional business teams. • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail. - They need a self trouble shooter who's willing to learn on there own if they don't get something. - Stack used daily: Clout, Goldengate, OCI, Data guard, and migrations - Deep understanding of explaining logical concepts - How to perform extracts - Implementing Goldengate from scratch - Experience installing and configuring in Goldengate - Understanding architecture - Validating and troubleshooting as a core DBA Additional Skills & Qualifications: The candidate needs to be local and able to come on site 2 days per week in Farmington Hills, MI.
