Position Title: Oracle DBA
Location: Remote
Engagement: 20-25 hours per month
Clearance: US Citizen with the ability to obtain a public trust clearance required. This position supports a government contract

We are looking for an Oracle DBA to work with one of our top clients on a part time engagement. Below you will find the requirements of the role:

Oracle DBA Requirements

- On-Call 24x7 production DBA support
- Extensive knowledge of database server configuration and administration for Oracle 11g and 19c
- Best practice RMAN configuration and operation
- Best practice Data Pump configuration and operation
- Performance tuning
- Explain plans, sqltrace, etc.
- Index tuning
- Partitions and tablespace maintenance
- User administration
- Routine backup and restore
- Routine database refresh and flashbacks
- Experience using Oracle Upgrade Assistant
- Implement security measures for Oracle database and host systems
- Develop performance metrics
- Assist developers with Oracle specific application development (query plans, indexes, etc.)
- Scripting and the ability to work through the legacy Perl scripts is central to the role
- Extensive knowledge of Perl scripts to support Oracle
- Proficient in working with Oracle support

Day-to-Day role

- Perform routine service requests
- Database refresh, flashback setup
- Upgrade 11g to 19c
- Cloning development databases (update service names, tnsnames, etc.)
- Archive tablespaces
- Applying security patches
- Work with break-fix team for On-call support
- Develop and deliver routine performance / capacity / health reports

Environment

- Oracle on Windows 2012 R2 environment
- 1 production server (two production databases)
- 2 staging servers (4 staging databases)
- 15 development/qa servers

Expectations

- 10 to 15 hours per month of routine service requests
- 20 to 30 hours per year for stand alone projects (e.g., upgrade production - application/database from 11g to 19c)
- 1 or 2 after-hours escalations per year (0 in past 12 months)
- Participate in biweekly IT meeting
- Must submit public trust security clearance application
