Oracle DBA Architect

Responsibilities/Tasks:

Install and maintain the performance of database servers. Refresh and maintain database environments. Set and maintain database standards. Manage database access. Perform routine day-to-day database administrator duties, observing senior database administrators to build skills in data modelling, SQL and PL/SQL tuning, application tuning, creation of database objects, data modelling, utilities, and Linux commands. Participate in building and implementing SQL and PL/SQL. Perform performance tuning of database systems. Install, upgrade, and manage database applications. Diagnose and troubleshoot database errors. Recommend and implement emerging database technologies. Determine the most effective way to increase performance when performance issues arise, including server configuration changes or index/query changes. Assist with estimates of system capacity to meet near and long-term processing requirements. Consult with users to identify current database requirements and clarify objectives. Review documented processes and procedures. Maintain knowledge of database security, backup and recovery, and performance monitoring standards. Support release processes for assigned projects/development teams. Participate in 24/7 on-call rotation as needed. Help standardize and administer security across multiple environments. Stay current with advances in information technology by reading manuals, trade periodicals, and technical reports relating to Oracle and SQL Server databases. Provide technical assistance to other Information Services personnel. Maintain confidentiality of processed information.

Required Technical and Professional Expertise:

Hands-on experience in installing and managing any Oracle Software (9i, 10g, 11g, 12c, 19c, etc.). Experience with database upgrades. Experience with Oracle RMAN, ASM, Data Guard, performance tuning, and OEM 13c. Strong practical experience with ORACLE in a production RAC. Experience with database, schema, and table-level refresh using Data Pump. Oracle AD Integrations and Golden Gate experience preferred. Design, setup, and maintenance experience with Data Guard environments. Experience implementing Data Guard and handling switchover and failover activities. Ability to troubleshoot client/server problems. Core knowledge of Oracle RMAN backup and recovery, and ability to handle database migrations. Understanding of overall system architectures and their impact on business results. Knowledge of SQL, PL/SQL, and Linux commands. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to clearly articulate solution alternatives. Knowledge of upgrading, patching, and installing the Oracle Database environment. Knowledge of Linux administration. Ability to work independently and as part of a team to understand, analyze, and resolve technical problems. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Good knowledge of ITIL processes.
