Edgewater is currently seeking a highly skilled and experienced Oracle DBA Expert in Software Development and Modernization to join our team. The Oracle Database Administrator (DBA) Expert will play a critical role in supporting comprehensive software development and modernization projects. The ideal candidate will be an authority in Oracle database management, with a focus on optimizing and transforming legacy systems into modern, efficient platforms. This role involves providing advanced database support, maintenance, and modernization strategies, ensuring that databases are scalable, secure, and aligned with the evolving needs of modern software development environments.

 

Database Administrator Expert should be proficient at a Senior DBA level, with all aspects of Oracle database administration, and Application Development Support. Candidate should show proficiency in Server administration, and competency in ITIL and Security Policies and Procedures. Ability to lead a team, and excellent Communication and Inter-personal skills.

Responsibilities Lead the modernization and optimization of existing Oracle databases to support new software development initiatives.Collaborate closely with software development teams to integrate database solutions that enhance the overall application architecture.Design and implement strategies for database migration, particularly to cloud-based infrastructures, ensuring seamless transitions with minimal downtime.Develop, document, and enforce best practices for database administration, security, and modernization.Drive continuous improvement in database performance, scalability, and security, using modern tools and methodologies.Serve as a subject matter expert in database architecture, guiding the development team on best practices and innovative solutions. Qualifications Must be US Citizen and have ability to obtain HSPD-12 Security ClearanceProven experience with Oracle Real Application Clusters (RAC) and Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) in private cloud environments.Proficiency in PL/SQL programming, with a strong understanding of how database logic integrates with software applications.Extensive experience in analyzing, designing, developing, testing, and implementing large-scale systems with a focus on modernization.Expertise in developing high-level and detailed system architecture designs, particularly in environments that require both online and batch processing.

Required Skills and Competencies:

Advanced knowledge in installing, configuring, and administering Oracle Databases, including RAC, Oracle Enterprise Management (OEM) Grid, and associated technologies.Strong SQL scripting abilities, with a proven track record of troubleshooting and resolving complex database and application issues.Experience in creating and documenting comprehensive DBA processes, procedures, policies, and tasks, with an emphasis on modernization.Extensive experience in migrating and supporting databases in cloud environments, with a focus on Database as a Service (DBaaS).Expertise in upgrading and applying security patches to Oracle databases, ensuring alignment with modern security standards.Proficiency in RAC, Automatic Storage Management (ASM), RMAN, Oracle Data Guard, and database cloning/overlay, with a focus on modernization and cloud integration.Solid understanding of database security, backup, recovery, and archival concepts, with experience across diverse platforms including Red Hat Linux and Oracle Linux.

Additional Considerations:

Oracle Database Administration Professional Certification.Experience in Data Masking and Scrubbing to ensure data privacy during modernization.Experience in delivering Database as a Service (DBaaS) in cloud, hybrid cloud, or on-premises environments, with a focus on supporting modern software architectures.
