Oral Communication Faculty: AMDA is seeking passionate, student-centered, and highly qualified part-time adjunct instructors to teach undergraduate Oral Communication courses for our New York Campus. These courses will be  delivered in person on the NY campus.  Teaching assignment (s) may include courses within the discipline of Communication such as Introduction to Oral Communication or English. The Instructor  will offer a combination of various asynchronous learning opportunities, using instructional technologies with the learning management system, Canvas.  Faculty members at AMDA are responsible for providing highly effective instruction through well-prepared classes, relevant assignments, fair and holistic assessment of learning, clear documentation of student progress, and support of academic success for all students. Primary Responsibilities: Providing instruction in accordance with established curricula, course outlines, and class schedulesCreating and maintaining an environment which emphasizes learning, encourages free discussion of ideas and critical thinkingProviding a learning vehicle for diversity and inclusion contentEvaluating progress of students concerning educational matters and assessing student workMaintaining appropriate standards of professional conduct and ethicsMaintaining current knowledge in the subject matter areasFulfilling professional responsibilities of a part-time adjunct faculty memberMaintaining accurate academic recordsPerforming other related duties as assigned Qualifications: Terminal degree in the field of Speech Communication, Rhetoric and Composition, or related Communication StudiesExtensive experience in higher education, plus a master’s degree Speech Communication, Educational Leadership, Rhetoric and Composition, Public Speaking and Communication Education or a related field.A minimum of three years of teaching in the related field Communication Education in a post-secondary settingExperience with innovative teaching methodologies that focus on creating an engaging, student-centered learning environmentCurrency and depth of knowledge in the applicable fieldKnowledge of and commitment to teaching strategies and practices that enhance student success at higher education institutions, including effective use of technologyExcellent oral/written communication skills and interpersonal skillsCommitment to academic excellence, exceptional service and providing a dynamic climate for life-long learningSuccessful candidates will be able to apply their discipline expertise in a manner/context that is relevant to emerging performing artists, in an online environmentActive scholarship in related field  Position Information: The pay range for this position is $45-$60 per hour for classroom teachingFor administrative and tasks assigned or volunteered outside of classroom teaching hours will be paid at standard hourly rate of $35This position is subject to a background check upon a conditional offer of employment and a reference check.  Diversity and Qualifications: AMDA is fully committed to diversity, inclusivity, and equity throughout the teaching and learning process.
