Oral Onolytic Clinic Nurse

Description:An oral oncolytic clinic nurse, is a registered nurse with oncology-specific clinical knowledge who helps manage patient’s oral oncolytic regimens. This includes, but not limited to: managing toxicities, adherence to medication, tracking lab results, facilitating prior authorization and triaging financial constraints. Utilizing the nursing process, an oral oncolytic nurse provides education and resources to facilitate informed decision-making and timely access to quality health care.

Position Summary:

Oversees and coordinates care for specific specialty area for an assigned caseload. Facilitates appropriate care, assists patients and families in finding and negotiating that care. Facilitates appropriate utilization of resources and efficient patient progression through the continuum of health care resulting in the highest quality and cost effective care.

What you will do:  

Completes a comprehensive health assessment of the patient’s physical, psychological, social, environmental, financial and functional status. Includes assessment of past and present treatment course. Able to understand and develop goals, treatment plan and provider options.Collaborates with other clinical teams and medical staff in performance improvement activities including assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of clinical outcomes and processes for identified populations.Serves as clinical expert related to populations served providing education and internal consultation to other staff.Monitors and modifies the plan of care through an interdisciplinary and collaborative process in conjunction with all parts of the health care team.Performs other related duties as assigned.

What you will need:  

Graduation from a NLN or AACN accredited school of nursingGraduate of an approved school of nursing. Bachelors of Science in Nursing OR two years of practice in specialty AND specialty certification in subspecialty e.g. OCN, CNRN, CCRN-Pediatrics, or other subspecialty certification in which they will be practicing.Enrollment in a Baccalaureate Degree in the Science of Nursing (BSN) Degree from an accredited school of nursing and completion required within 4 years of hireValid Registered Nurse (RN) licensure authorized in the state of Michigan.3 years experience in a health care setting  Preferred: Previous case management experience.Specialty credentialing preferred according to clinical nursing practice specialty area preferred
