Job Description
The Order Entry/Customer Service Pharmacy Technician is responsible for order entry and triage. This role involves handling incoming calls, directing them appropriately, and communicating with LTC facilities, pharmacists, nurses, and physicians. The technician will process drug orders received via faxes and other forms, answer medication-related questions, and triage documents by reviewing patient profiles to decide on order placement. The role includes prepping documents for order entry, making calls for new LTC facility admissions, and resolving order issues by understanding the Automatic Dispensing Unit. The position involves entering medication orders at a rate of 40-45 per hour and handling about 15-30 calls daily.
Responsibilities
+ Handle incoming calls and direct them appropriately.
+ Communicate with LTC facilities, pharmacists, nurses, and physicians.
+ Process drug orders received via faxes and other forms.
+ Answer medication-related questions.
+ Triage documents by reviewing patient profiles and making order placement decisions.
+ Prep documents for order entry by highlighting pertinent information.
+ Enter medication orders at a rate of 40-45 per hour.
+ Make calls for new LTC facility admissions.
+ Resolve order issues by understanding the Automatic Dispensing Unit.
+ Transfer orders to retail pharmacies.
+ Work on assigned areas including phone handling and data entry.
Essential Skills
+ Knowledge of SIG codes.
+ Registered Pharmacy Technician with the state of MN (national certification not accepted).
+ 6+ months of pharmacy experience in a retail or LTC setting.
+ Experience in retail should include typing orders and knowledge of SIG codes.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Experience with customer service in pharmacy settings such as Target, Walgreens, CVS, or Cub Foods.
+ Proficiency in data entry.
+ Ability to work in a repetitive and production-based role.
Work Environment
+ The work environment is an office setting with approximately 12 teammates. Each technician will have their own cubicle with access to team leads and managers nearby. It is a quiet and production-based environment.
+ The role is repetitive and involves handling all incoming phone calls, faxes, and electronic orders, as well as triaging documents and orders.
+ Technicians will be assigned to different areas throughout the week, spending 50% of their time on phone calls and 50% on data entry. Shifts vary, including mid and late shifts, with availability required for all shifts.
+ Training for the first month will be during the mid-shift.
+ Work includes every other weekend or every 3rd weekend, with specific shifts on Saturdays and Sundays.
+ Technicians will still work 5 days a week with days off adjusted based on the weekly schedule.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $21.00 - $23.00
