Job OverviewAssists in unit down desk review, interface with Remarketing for machine search, and preparation of unit down monthly statistics. Responsible for communication to Distributor(DB) Parts Support team of estimated delivery dates (Tokyo), options to supply, and all follow-up and direct shipment tracking for each individual DB unit down backorder through plant help out or cannibalization. Primary service contact for “help outs” from the plants for line down situations.
Key Job Responsibilities Follow-up and expediting with Japan for unit down backorders which require ship dates through daily Unit Down R/R’s to the appropriate factory. Keep Komatsu Limited parent company (KLTD) informed of MDR’s that are filed on the KLTD supplied parts. This information is passed to Distributor Parts Support teams for notification to individual DB. Keep current follow-up information on paybacks for assembly and machine cannibalizations in teardown folders whether for dealer or stockyard. Keep all personnel involved (dealer who performed cannibalization) with most current information on a daily basis if delivery promises change. Up-to-date information is essential to Order and Distributions (O&D) to determine when a cannibalized machine may be ready for sale again. Daily updates to the stored cannibalization report file of assembly and machine teardowns for distribution to O&D every week. Assist in calls from dealers stating urgent machine down situation Perform assembly teardowns which involve ordering an assembly and seeing that is ships same day. Also responsible for providing shipping instructions for cannibalized component to the teardown DB along with any applicable parts book pages, etc. Source remarketing machines when no other option is available Qualifications/Requirements Seasoned general business or industry experience. High school diploma required. College degree a plus. 3-4 years of logistics experience, specifically experience associated with emergency orders and expediting parts for critical issues. Distributor Support or Materials Management a plus. Extreme sense of urgency and outstanding organizational and follow-up skills. Personally accountable and welcomes responsibility. Functional level skills in Excel, Word and PowerPoint. Knowledge of Access a plus. Ability to effectively and professionally communicate orally and in written form with suppliers and internal functions within Komatsu. General knowledge of manufacturing processes a plus. Physical Requirements: This position requires sitting for extended periods of time over 90% of the work period to complete detailed work, typically using a PC.
