Job Overview:
Under the supervision of the Manager, the Operating Room orderly assists the professional nursing staff by performing routine duties pertinent to the overall functioning of the unit, in particular the safe transport of patients.

Required:
Basic Life Support Certification through the American Heart Association requiredPreferred:
GED or High School Diploma At least one (1) year experience as an Orderly or Transporter with a health care background.Scheduling Requirements

Always demonstrates an awareness and understanding of patient s needs for comfort and safety; follows through accurately to provide patients with comfort and safetyAlways reports to the Nurse Manager or RN any changes in status, patient complaints, or other pertinent information regarding the condition of patientAs required, orders supplies as needs, maintaining a cost-conscious attitude; regularly inventories to ensure supplies are always on handConsistently completed all work assignments by the end of the shiftDemonstrates knowledge of body mechanics and patient safety in transporting patients from bed to stretcher, and assisting in transferring from stretcher to OR tableProperly orients new personnel when requestedRegularly assists in maintaining a healthy, clean and safe environment for the patients and staffTakes OR schedule for printing and distributes to various departments throughout the institutionChoosing RWJBarnabas Health!
