Orientation Intern (Summer 2025 901219)

This is a LEVEL C position on the Middlebury undergraduate pay scale. 

Up to four (4) positions are available to begin June 9, 2025

Student employees must be able to work full time (37 hours / week). 

Position ends on September 13. First week of classes, interns will work up to 20 hours.

The intern works on several projects focused on planning and preparation for Orientation Week throughout the duration of their position.  Interns are integral members of the Orientation team and serve as critical links between student leaders, staff, faculty, new students, families, and the Middlebury College community. They are ambassadors of the College and the faces and voices of our orientation.  

Responsibilities

Communication Develop a vision and schedule for Orientation, communicating with new students, families, and campus partners via email. Manage websites and social media. Design and production of print media and other communications. Archive and create history of the program.  Community Establish welcoming and inclusive relationships with incoming students and families. Attend all assigned meetings related to Orientation and leader training. Manage follow up and acknowledgements to campus partners and community members who contributed to Orientation. Training and Evaluation Assist with the development and facilitation of orientation leader training. Create and implement assessment tools and evaluation processes for new students and family members.  Logistics Plan, coordinate, and facilitate various orientation activities. Provide student services research assistance, i.e., best practices, program comparisons, student leadership. Collect and organize supplies, document photocopying and updating, packet creation, track inventory, deliver materials, troubleshoot challenges, set up and take down orientation activities, and other office tasks. Willingness, if able, to lift heavy boxes, and move materials. Other projects assigned.
