Founded in 1906, McLeod Health is a locally owned and managed, not for profit organization supported by the strength of more than 900 members on its medical staff and more than 2,900 licensed nurses. McLeod Health is also composed of approximately 15,000 team members and more than 90 physician practices throughout its 18-county service area. With seven hospitals, McLeod Health operates three Health and Fitness Centers, a Sports Medicine and Outpatient Rehabilitation Center, Hospice and Home Health Services. The system currently has 988 licensed beds, including Hospice and Behavioral Health. 1. Maintains a professional image and exhibits excellent customer relations to patients, visitors, physicians, and co-workers in accordance with our Service Excellence Standards and Core Values.
2. Assists the physician in assessing the needs of patients based on data collected through history, observation, physical exam, telephone triage, and analysis of diagnostic data:
3. Performs direct patient care, i.e., procedures, treatments, patient education, and follow-up instructions. Prepares the patient to be seen by the physician.
4. Collaborates directly with Orthopaedic providers in the treatment of bone, joint injuries and wound care.
5. Applies and removes various types of casts (Plaster, Fiberglass, Synthetic, FCT) and splints (Plaster, Fiberglass, Synthetic, Alumifoam).
6. Assist the Medical Provider or OTC with corrective molds to Cast & Splint.
7. Utilizes different types of cast saws to safely remove all types of casts.
8. Removal of rings from fingers using a Ring Cutter.
9. Accurately charts and charges the proper coding for all casting and splinting in the EMR system.
10. Fitting and applying all types of braces.
11. Manages the removal of sutures, staples, wound care, and the application of various dressings.
12. Provides comprehensive patient education on cast/splint and wound care, ensuring patient understanding.
13. Applies all Orthopaedic needs to patients at the hospital and clinic.
14. Maintains supply rooms and carts/cast rooms.
15. Performs any other duties as requested by administration.

17. Maintains cleanliness and organization in examination rooms, following OSHA standards.
18. Ensures all necessary instruments are clean and readily available in examination rooms.
19. Sets up and maintains equipment, promptly reporting any malfunctions to the Orthopaedic Technician Manager or appropriate personnel.
20. Helps manage the medical supply inventory, checks expiration dates on drugs, vaccines, and supplies, and disposes of outdated medications and supplies.
21. Develops and maintains a working knowledge of all equipment required to perform duties.

Qualifications/Training:
Excellent manual dexterity and eye-hand coordination. Ability to read and interpret technical documents and drawings. Strong attention to detail. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. High school diploma or equivalent; technical or vocational training in casting or a related field is a plus.
