Job Description
Provides orthotic and/or prosthetic services that complement the Orthotics and Prosthetics department, including evaluation and treatment of patients in inpatient and outpatient settings and fabrication of orthotic and/or prosthetic appliances.Experience

Master’s degree in Orthotics and Prosthetics current or completed residency in a National Commission on Orthotic and Prosthetic Education (NCOPE) approved residency program. For graduates prior to 2014 (non-Masters) must have completed a NCOPE approved residency programCertification Summary

Provides comprehensive orthotic and/or prosthetic age-appropriate patient care for newborns to young adults for inpatients and outpatients at assigned orthotics and prosthetics locations, including thorough assessment, formulation of a detailed treatment plan, achievement of accurate measurements/impression, device/component/material design, evaluation of fit and function of prescribed devices, and patient education.Independent patient care is assigned after training/orientation is complete in each specialty area and approved by team leader.Performs follow-up care, including assessment of fit and function and adjustment to device and/or treatment plan when necessary.Communicates changes with physician/referral source and other members of patient’s treatment team.Demonstrates thorough, accurate, and timely clinical, technical, and financial documentation, including ordering according to departmental policies.Ensures chart notes are co-signed by a licensed clinician if necessary.Ensures financial documentation reflects understanding of insurance, billing, and coding practices.Demonstrates effective time management by balancing direct and indirect patient care responsibilities, including appointment readiness.Enhances department operations or clinical services through contributions beyond routine patient care, e.g., participation on a project or team within or beyond the department or volunteering for department-sponsored patient activities.Seeks and initiates learning opportunities through colleagues, physicians, interdisciplinary healthcare providers, manufacturers, and educational symposiums.Obtains continuing education units necessary for certification achievement and maintenance.Promotes a safe and professional environment for patient care through Joint Commission readiness and applying American Board for Certification in Orthotics, Prosthetics and Pedorthics facility accreditation standards.#CHOAALLIED
