Job Title: OSP Design/Field Engineer
Job Description: The OSP Engineer is responsible for overseeing and maintaining existing and ongoing projects. As these projects progress, the OSP Engineer identifies engineering problems and devises innovative solutions. They apply specific engineering disciplines to plan, design, and implement telecommunications systems, networks, and plant facilities. These plans help define the implementation of future plant construction or modification of existing facilities. The OSP Engineer plays an active role in creating budgets for updated services, technologies, and industry requirements. They work with drafting and GIS personnel to develop constructive drawings or designs and provide engineering overlays and construction notes.
Key Responsibilities:
+ Oversee and maintain existing and ongoing projects.
+ Identify and solve OSP engineering problems.
+ Plan, design, and implement telecommunications systems, networks, and plant facilities.
+ Create budgets for updated services, technologies, and industry requirements.
+ Work with drafting and GIS personnel to develop drawings and designs.
+ Ensure all network quality requirements are followed.
+ Manage aerial and underground construction and engineering requirements.
+ Handle issues related to fiber networking, routing, and network management.
+ Develop mitigation and restoration methods for emergencies such as fiber damage and power failures.
+ Manage project expenditures, create progress reports, and recommend solutions to management.
+ Perform mathematical and statistical analyses and prepare related reports.
+ Assist other departments during the operation and maintenance of the plant.
Additional Skills & Qualifications:
+ Adhere to industry standards regarding construction and maintenance of the OSP structure.
+ Assume full responsibility for the safety and security of the OSP facility.
+ Determine the scope, budget, and schedules for OSP projects.
+ Submit weekly project status reports to reporting managers.
+ Deliver project installations within the stipulated time.
+ Follow engineering standards and market engineering specifications.
+ Develop aerial and underground fiber route maps and execute route analysis.
+ Handle fiber optic verification and cable route mapping activities.
+ Maintain records of fiber cable splicing and topography.
+ Develop mitigation and restoration procedures for emergency conditions.
+ Possess knowledge of CAD and other software applications used for engineering designs.
+ Inspect OSP networks.
+ Grant permissions to execute OSP projects.
+ Guide junior employees to achieve project goals.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $38.00/hr.
