The Outside Plant Engineer II is responsible for overseeing and managing the maintenance and relocation of OSP and infrastructure. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in telecommunications, with experience in conflict reviews, civil engineering plan interpretation, fiber optic design maps, and utility locating. This position requires the ability to be on call for emergency locates and proficiency in computer skills.

Key Accountabilities

Conflict Reviews

Conduct thorough conflict reviews to identify potential issues with the existing plant. Coordinate with various stakeholders to ensure projects are feasible and compliant.

Civil Plan Interpretation

Analyze and interpret civil plans as they relate to the existing fiber optic plant. Collaborate with engineering firms and other stakeholders to integrate relocation requirements. Coordinate joint trench opportunities, participation, and the as-built process. Have a solid grasp of stationing and offsets.

Fiber Optic Design

Facilitate the design and permit process for line extensions and plant relocations. Ensure accurate and efficient designs while considering future growth and plant maintenance.

Utility Locating

Perform fieldwork to locate and mark underground utilities. Use specialized equipment and techniques to identify the position of conduits and cables. Be available to be on call 24/7 to perform time-sensitive emergency locate requests. Qualifications Strong computer skills are required; proficiency in MS Office, Adobe, and database experience is a plus. Must have 2 years of proven OSPE experience. Effective verbal and written communication skills. Strong interpersonal skills. Availability to respond to emergency locate requests. Excellent analytical and decision-making skills. Exceptional ability to perform under pressure. Aggressive self-starter able to work independently. Previous CATV or Fiber Optic experience preferred. Valid Arizona driver’s license and the ability to travel as needed.
