Position Overview
The OSP Engineering Designer is responsible for handling conflict analysis for relocations, resolving 3GIS tickets, and supporting OSPE Project Managers and Fiber Design Engineers with data uploads to ArcGIS Pro. This role ensures network records are accurate and up to date, improving data integrity and supporting efficient project execution. The ideal candidate will leverage GIS tools and collaborate across teams to enhance network planning and asset management.
Essential Job Functions
Conflict Analysis and 3GIS Management
Assess and analyze potential conflicts in outside plant (OSP) infrastructure and propose effective solutionsManage and resolve design-related tickets within 3GIS to maintain network accuracy and efficiencyFiber Design and GIS Management
Support OSPE PMs and Fiber Design Engineers with data uploads, including identifying fiber capacity issues and verifying/updating existing route data.Utilize Site Tracer and related tools to analyze and update network records for accurate asset tracking and planningDirect the creation, maintenance, and updates of fiber network designs in GIS platforms such as 3GISReview and analyze GIS maps, conduit records, and layout drawings to support network planningCollaboration and Documentation
Work closely with engineering, construction, and field operations teams to ensure seamless project executionMaintain accurate records of designs, updates, and changes within internal systems to support operational transparencyDevelop and implement best practices to enhance efficiency and improve design workflowsProvide maps, reports, and inventory updates to support sales, marketing, and operations teamsOperational Support and Reporting
Provide maps, reports, and inventory updates to support sales, marketing, and operations teams.Ensure adherence to underground and aerial construction techniquesQualifications & Skills
Experience in OSP engineering, network design, or related telecommunications field.Proficiency in 3GIS, ArcGIS Pro, and Site Tracer for network planning and design.Strong analytical skills to assess fiber capacity issues and update network routes accurately.Ability to collaborate effectively with multiple teams, including engineering, construction, and field operations.Detail-oriented with excellent problem-solving and organizational skills.Experience with data management and GIS tools for maintaining accurate records.Strong written and verbal communication skills.Physical Requirements
Must be able to sit, stand, walk, stoop, kneel and reach.Must be able to drive a motor vehicle.Must be able to speak, write, read, and understand English.Must have visual acuity.Must be able to lift 0-25 pounds.
