The Senior Scientist sets development strategy and coordinates the execution of the plan for Complex QSC OTC Maintenance Technical projects (product reformulation, product remediation). The role collaborates with cross functional R&D, Supply Chain and commercial teams and ensures that the product meets consumer expectations and regulatory requirements.
The Senior Scientist also supports new product innovation (internal and external), strategic cost-saving initiatives, and technology projects with leading-edge analytical, formulation, packaging and/or process engineering experience for the respective project to ensure and deliver capable product and process at industrial scale.

+ Lead complex and cross BU maintenance projects for regulatory driven changes, product remediation, product reformulation, sustainability, de-risking, value engineering within QCS OTC Technical.
+ Make effective decisions to achieve desired outcomes of project team through technical or scientific interpretation of results.
+ Work closely with cross functional R&D, Marketing, Supply Chain teams to identify and implement “design to value” opportunities for NPI and Complex maintenance technical projects to enhance manufacturing approaches to produce products more efficiently.
+ Ensure successful technical transfer to the internal/ external factories.
+ Optimize product and process to improve sustainability, reduce costs or improve value to support value engineering initiatives.
+ Solve project related problems by leveraging your scientific expertise and problem-solving skills.
+ Provide technical expertise to challenges and issues that cannot be resolved locally (Site and/or CMOs worldwide) on established products.
+ Design and execute experiments to drive a fundamental understanding of complex systems and processes.
+ Provide, Expand and Develop expertise in topical & liquid dosage forms within the organization.
+ Provide technical leadership and sets direction for projects as well as supports junior team members in their projects (coach/mentor).
+ Provide technical justification with high quality standards to Health Authorities on global brand liquid dosage form when required and linked to product lifecycle management and/or maintenance project.
+ Ensure principals of Quality of Design (QbD), Operational Excellence (OE) and Value Engineering/Design to Value are appropriately utilized in the execution of complex and cross BU maintenance projects.
+ Drive a culture dedicated to quality and integrity in your work and the work of others.
+ Develops strong, collaborative relationships with other departments/groups and fosters an environment of knowledge sharing.

+ Keep current on literature and attends scientific meetings and symposiums to ensure product development for the category stays at the leading edge of trends, developments, and technologies.
+ Provide relevant input to budgeting process.

**Basic Qualifications:**
We are looking for professionals with these required skills to achieve our goals:
+ BS degree in Chemical, Pharmaceutical or related sciences.
+ 5+ experience in the Consumer Health or Pharmaceutical Industry
+ Advanced knowledge of process development.
+ Working knowledge of formulation development of drug products, specifically topical & liquid dosage forms.
+ Deep knowledge of GMPs and regulations as applicable to medicinal products.
+ Site product owner experience highly desired for practical application of the above
+ Understanding in the technical aspects of the product lifecycle management, QbD principles, technology transfer, systematic risk assessments, and validation.
+ Experience in leading/influencing cross functional technical teams.
+ Experience in the field of product cost optimization, value engineering, and/or Operational Excellence
**Preferred Qualifications:**
If you have the following characteristics, it would be a plus:
+ MS/Ph.D degree in Chemical, Pharmaceutical or related science
+ Expert knowledge of relevant dosage form including unit operation understanding, device/packaging processes, plant equipment and analytical testing.
+ History of demonstrated expertise in the development of conventional and novel topical, liquid and/or suspension dosage forms with track record of improving products, processes, and troubleshooting.
+ Good oral and written communication skills at all levels within the organization; strong technical writing capability
+ Track record of coaching and mentoring junior scientists to build strong collaborative teams working in a high-performance environment and culture that values scientific rigor and empowerment.
+ External communication and/or network with regulators, external collaborators and/or scientific experts
+ Effective relationship building, influencing and organizational and project management skills.
+ Thorough understanding of Drug and Food GMPs as relevant to Topical & liquids Consumer Healthcare products as well as familiar with FDA, European and global regularity requirements, such as ICH Excellent understanding of scientific and commercial aspects of Consumer Healthcare industry
+ Proficient in Medical Device regulation knowledge
+ Experienced in negotiating and agreeing timelines and milestones with sponsors/ business partners and continually monitoring progress to ensure timely delivery.
+ Deep understanding of Quality of Design (QbD), Operational Excellence (OE) and Value Engineering/ Design to Value principles and how they apply in a Consumer Healthcare R&D environment.
+ Demonstrated a sense of curiosity and appetite to learn independently.
