The Supply and Logistics team is responsible for keeping the appropriate levels of materials and/or stock supplies with the aim to maximize inventory control and company sales. Organizes deliveries to meet given deadlines and customer expectations. Supervises and tracks the flow of materials and products from suppliers throughout the organization.
This role in summaryThe Manager of Outbound Transportation will work as part of the Transportation and Trade Compliance team, collaborating with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders. This position offers a unique opportunity to lead the charge in optimizing our RDC and FDC finished goods network for ground transportation: this includes managing the relationship with Whirlpool’s lead logistics provider (LLP) as well as transportation carrier relationships within the supply chain network. The person in this role will be accountable to deliver key metrics such as Primary Carrier Utilization, On-time delivery & pick up, Maximizing Trailer Utilization, Transportation Cost Per Unit($), continuous improvement, Cost Savings Initiatives (P4G), and speed & efficiency of overall processes.
Your responsibilities will include Drive Strategic Transformation: Collaborate with logistics/warehousing operations, deployment, trade customer support, purchasing, finance, carriers, Lead Logistics Provider and 3PL’s to exceed business goals. Strategically balance service objectives, cost reduction initiatives, inventory management, customer needs, and building constraints to achieve optimal results.Manage a Substantial Budget: Oversee a $325M+ budget across a network of +11 RDC buildings and +14 FDC buildings, making decisions that directly impact our bottom line.Lead Innovation: Spearhead project and process improvements to enhance transportation operations, reduce costs, and elevate service levels.Shape the Future of Transportation: Play a pivotal role in annual and ongoing transportation bids with our Lead Logistics Provider and Procurement, influencing our transportation strategy.Optimize Performance: Take ownership of assigning transportation modes, locations, and carrier performance metrics (both cost and service), driving efficiency and effectiveness.Leverage Data for Success: Utilize your strong analytical skills to identify opportunities for improvement, implement data-driven solutions, and measure the impact of your initiatives.Engage in Industry Leadership: Represent Whirlpool at industry events, conferences, and meetings, building relationships with key stakeholders and staying at the forefront of transportation trends.Minimum requirements 5+ years Supply Chain and/or Logistics experienceBachelor's Degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, or Business Preferred skills and experiences Previous transportation or carrier management experienceAbility to lead teams, both direct and indirectAble to work effectively in a fast paced environmentKnowledge of MS Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Access) and Google collaboration toolsWorking knowledge of SAPSpanish proficiencyAdditional informationWhirlpool’s Ways of Working
