Outdoor Equipment & Grounds Maintenance Technician Assistant
Summary About the position: This position will be assigned to the outdoor recreation department on Edwards AFB CA. This is a Regular position with benefits (medical, dental, life insurance, retirement, 401(k), and annual/sick leave. Responsibilities Conduct routine inspections of outdoor equipment and facilities, and identify any issues or areas that need maintenance or repair. Coordinate with other staff members to ensure that equipment and facilities are being used safely and appropriately. Perform regular cleaning and maintenance tasks, such as washing equipment and surfaces, to ensure that they are in good working order. Assist in the setup and take-down of outdoor events and activities, such as concerts, festivals, and sporting events. Provide customer service and support to users of the program's equipment and facilities, including offering instruction and guidance on the proper use of equipment. Keep accurate records of maintenance and repair tasks, including documenting the use of equipment and inventory management. Following the job safety analysis for all tasks performed to ensure safety is priority. May be required to work uncommon tour of duty to include days, nights, weekends, holidays, and family days. May operate a government vehicle on or off the military installation. Must be able to drive a forklift. Performs other related duties as assigned. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Qualifying Experience: High school diploma or equivalent. Relevant vocational training or apprenticeship is preferred. Proven experience as an Equipment Maintenance Technician or similar role. Knowledge of mechanical systems and hands-on experience in equipment maintenance. Training and certification in servicing specialized equipment like ski bindings and scuba gear. Ability to use specialized tools and equipment for repairing and maintaining mechanical devices. Problem-solving skills and ability to provide and receive constructive feedback. Physical ability to perform heavy lifting (up to 50 lbs) and other physically demanding tasks. Must be able to satisfactorily complete a pre-employment physical. Must possess a valid driver's license and clean driving record. Availability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays, as needed. Position requires favorable completion of a Tier 1 background investigation. This position has been designated as a testing designated position (TDP). Incumbent is subject to random drug screen. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Education Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. This position does not allow for education substitution. FOREIGN EDUCATION: Education completed in foreign colleges or universities may be used to meet the requirements. You must show proof the education credentials have been deemed to be at least equivalent to that gained in conventional U.S. education program.
