Full-Time, 40 hrs per week
Monday through Friday, 8a-430p
MAIN FUNCTION:
This position's main responsibility is to serve as the patient account collection representative of the hospital.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Follows established collection procedures as outlined in the departmental procedure manual.**
2. Posts and identifies cash receipts, adjustments and revisions to patient accounts as necessary and according to procedures outlined in the manual.**
3. Prepares patient refund vouchers according to Business Office procedures.
4. Reviews all patient accounts assigned and assure that all insurance billings have been generated correctly and appropriately.
5. Notifies department head and/or supervisor of any and all patient accounts that may be a potential bad debt loss or that do not meet the definitions of a current account and prepare such account for external collection procedures.**
6. Acts on and follow through with department head's and/or supervisor's recommendations and directives pertaining to the collection of patient accounts.
7. Acts in a professional manner when dealing with patients, insurance companies, etc. in the performance of the job duties and responsibilities.**
8. Assures compliance with any and all laws and regulations pertaining to the collection of hospital patient accounts.**
9. Processes all unapplied activity and credit balances according to Business Office procedure.
10. Handles incoming Business Office phone calls and refer them to the proper departments.**
11. Performs other related duties as assigned by the department head or supervisor.
12. Works trial balance.
13. EDUCATION:
High school diploma or equivalent.
EXPERIENCE:
One year
CARDIOPULMONARY RESUSCITATION (CPR) REQUIREMENTS:
No CPR required.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Light physical effort. Typical office jobs. Work in comfortable positions. Flow of work intermittent.
EXPOSURE CATEGORY:
Category III. Tasks that involve no exposure to blood, body fluids, or tissues. And Category I tasks are not a condition of employment.
