Qualifications for Physical Therapist

Education:

Graduate of an accredited school of Physical Therapy. Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree if graduated prior to January 1, 2016. Doctorate of Physical Therapy (DPT) required if graduated after January 1, 2016. International candidates must have a minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Physical Therapy; DPT preferred.

Licensure and Certification:

Must hold or be eligible for a Physical Therapist license in the state where services will be provided. State licensure must be obtained within the first 90 days of employment. CPR certification required within the first 90 days of employment. Must maintain all required certifications and licensure as per expiration dates.

Preferred Membership:

American Physical Therapy Association (APTA) membership is preferred.

Driving Requirements (if applicable):

If assigned to drive a company vehicle, a valid driver’s license is required. If assigned to drive a personal vehicle, proof of insurance and a valid driver’s license are required.

Experience:

Clinical experience within an educational training program required. Work experience preferred but not mandatory.

Physical Requirements:

Must be able to lift 50 pounds, assist with 100 pounds, and may need to push up to 300 pounds.

Additional Requirements:

Flexibility to work at other locations as assigned.
