STATUS:Non-exempt, full time HOURLY RATE: $21.00 per hour SUMMARY The AmeriCorps Senior Demonstration Project seeks to recruit, train and place AmeriCorps Seniors volunteers (age 55+) in respite related positions throughout the target region. In addition, volunteers will be mentored and supported to ultimately move from the stipend program to the paid respite workforce, increasing the availability of respite providers in the region. This position assists the team with community outreach, family caregiver recruitment for respite opportunities in the AmeriCorps SDP Project. Duties also include identifying and engaging caregivers in need of respite in a 3-county region (Jefferson, Lewis and Herkimer). Outreach to recruit families to enroll in respite programs, working with the Director to engage with Community Based Organizations (CBO) to develop respite opportunities for caregivers. Candidates must be willing to work remotely from either Lewis or Herkimer County. Some travel to the other six counties is required. Will have recurring access to vulnerable populations*. This grant funded position runs through September 13, 2026. Requirements DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES + Identify & provide community outreach efforts to educate and inform caregivers and professionals on the benefits and need for respite. + Work closely with the Volunteer Coordinator to connect with and support both family caregivers and volunteers. + Maintain data and files of prospective and active family caregivers. + Build and maintain relationships with local organizations/partners. + Arrange and conduct presentations for visibility of program and recruitment of informal caregivers and program volunteers. + Outreach to community groups, faith communities, volunteer organizations, including group presentations and tabling at conferences, job fairs and other events. + Participate in/assists with volunteer recognition program. + Submit reports as required, ensuring accuracy and compliance. + Assist with recruitment of potential volunteers. + Travel is requiredfor this front facing community position, must have reliable transportation. + Other duties as assigned by supervisor. QUALIFICATIONS EDUCATION:Associate’s degree, BS or BA; or equivalent combination of education and experience EXPERIENCE:Personal or professional experience in the field of caregiving. Must successfully pass criminal history background check according to results derived from National Sex Offender Public Website (NASPOW)/ New York State Unified Court System (www.nycourts.gov)/ Fingerprint-based FBI check PHYSICAL AND MENTAL REQUIREMENTS · Must be able to multi-task in a busy environment · Strong interpersonal skills necessary · Excellent verbal, written and telephone communication skills required · Computer skills (MS Office 365) · Work is performed at a desk or personal computer with regular video meetings · Ability to work in multi-cultural situations. · Must have reliable transportation. ·Travel is required. Much of this position will be performed in the community and requires travel to and around the 3-county area.
