This is a Assistant Librarian (non-tenure track, 3 year renewable position). Primary duties will include providing strategic vision/leadership in coordinating Library outreach efforts; leading intentional/innovative design of coordinated programming to promote learning and scholarship, community engagement, and active use of the Library’s resources, services, and space; cultivating relationships/partnerships within and outside the university; and facilitating the design of assessment strategies and activities including needs assessments and iterative assessment for continuous improvement of Library. Duties also include publicizing/marketing library services, programs, and resources, including managing the Library’s social media outlets and leading the Marketing & Outreach team; coordinating the Library's presence at campus and community outreach events; serving as the liaison for Library assessment activities. This position requires face-to-face interactions through a regular schedule of attendance on campus and in the workplace.
The Sue & Radcliffe Killam Library at Texas A&M International University(TAMIU) seeks a full-time Outreach & Assessment Librarian at the Assistant Librarian rank to begin Spring 2025.TAMIU is a growing university of over 8,000 students located in Laredo,Texas, a vibrant bilingual & bicultural city.
Required Qualifications
The successful candidate must hold a earned Master’s degree in Library Science or equivalent degree from an American Library Association (ALA)-accredited institution. Candidates nearing degree completion will also be considered but must have earned the Master’s degree before appointment. Candidates must demonstrate the ability to develop and grow collaborative partnerships and demonstrate potential for advancement in rank. We strongly encourage candidates with a strong desire to serve first-generation students; experience in an academic library setting; two years of related experience; experience supervising student workers; experience managing a team; experience developing multimedia marketing campaigns; experience generating increased engagement with Library services and collections; and experience with using applied qualitative and quantitative assessment methods.
We offer competitive salaries and a benefits package including health insurance, retirement benefits, and life insurance. Additional pay is available for summer teaching. Financial support for professional development opportunities, such as attending academic conferences, is also provided. Moving expenses are covered in whole or in part by the university.
Starting Salary: $52,000
