Location: Vestal, NY Category: Professional & Support Staff Posted On: Thu Jan 23 2025 Job Description: The Center for Middle East and North Africa Studies (CMENAS) at Binghamton University coordinates study of the Middle East, North and Sudanic Africa and European countries that have extensive Islamic contact. The Center develops and integrates research and graduate and undergraduate instruction about the MENA area. Courses related to this area are offered in history, geography, political science, anthropology, sociology, art history, comparative literature, Africana Studies, Judaic Studies, Arabic, Turkish, Hebrew and other fields. Key duties and responsibilities for the Outreach Coordinator include (but are not limited to): + Creation of public-facing and community-oriented programming and content + Collaboration with K-12 partners + Collaboration with Binghamton University Master Teacher Program + Collaboration with institutional partners (SUNY Broome, Purchase College, and other institutions as outreach grows) + Collaboration with American Civic Association & WSKG and PBS Learning + Developing Curriculum and Content related to Middle East Studies for K-12 and SUNY partners. + Developing and teaching a university level community engaged research course related to Middle East Diasporas. + Tracking and reporting key outcomes of outreach efforts for grants reporting, etc. + Supervising Graduate Assistant assigned + Publicizing and advertising outreach programming and content through social media, etc. + Developing and maintaining social media accounts for the Center + helps promote MENA related programs and Center by populating website, twitter and Facebook regularly, attending events, and responding to enquiries + Others duties as deemed appropriate by Associate and Faculty Directors Job Requirements: + Masters Degree in a Middle East Studies related field + K-12 Curricular Development and Outreach Experience + At least 2 years experience in higher education teaching and administration + Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office and related databases. + Ability to manage multiple priorities in a deadline driven environment. + Able to work both independently as well as with a team. + Attention to detail, critical thinking, analytical and problem-solving skills. + Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills, including the ability to present information to diverse individuals and groups.
