Primary Location: Central Branch. You will be required to travel to all sites and external events.
Employment Status: Permanent Full-Time (CUPE 5348)
Hours: 35 hours per week with ability to work all shifts - days, evenings, and weekends.
Reporting to the Manager, Program Development, this role represents the Library in the Oakville community to increase awareness and use of the Library’s programs and services. This role will facilitate on-site, off-site, and virtual events between the Library and the Oakville community.
What you'll do
As an Outreach Coordinator, you will:
• In accordance with the outreach strategy, coordinate OPL’s participation and contributions to community events and with partner organizations.
• Coordinate the outreach schedule with branch leadership to ensure outreach events are feasible and appropriately staffed.
• Coordinate outreach services, either on-site (in-reach) or off-site, to schools and other organizations that serve Oakville. Support outreach or in-reach events as necessary, in alignment with assigned responsibilities.
• Facilitate conversations with schools and other organizations on the expectations of outreach services and answer questions about the booking schedule.
• Evaluate the outreach performance based on set metrics and outcomes, on and off-site.
• Raise awareness of library services and strengthen the understanding of the value of the Oakville Public Library within the community.
• Develop and maintain both internal and external outreach resources, such as guides, posters, materials, and supplies for outreach activities and to support community organizations and groups in connecting and partnering with OPL and accessing library services.
• Work with the Marketing & Communications department on the creation of outreach materials and prepare content for public communications/promotion as requested.
• Track and document outreach and in-reach activities to measure impact and identify opportunities for improvement.
• Collect feedback and prepare reports on outreach and in-reach efforts and effectiveness, including community feedback and success stories.
• Work with the Community Development & Engagement department to identify opportunities to partner with community organizations and groups.
• Remain aware and engaged in relevant trends and interests of the community, ensuring outreach is relevant and impactful.
• Assist with other duties as assigned

• Work independently while exhibiting sound judgment and initiative.
Your experience and educational background:
• Community College diploma in a related field of community development or a minimum of 1 year experience in the field
• Minimum of 1 year of customer service experience
• Experience in the public library sector is an asset
Working Conditions:
• This role requires the ability to travel to all sites and hold a valid driver’s license and have access to a vehicle
• Lifting requirements related to outreach events including but not limited to outdoor tent set-up, foldable tables and chairs and storage boxes for outreach materials
