**Outside Machinist - Immediately Hiring for a Reputable Shipyard Company in SD.** **Job Description** + Maintains and repairs ship's propulsion and auxiliary systems including steam, turbine, electrical, and diesel propulsion systems, rudders and steering gear, elevators, and Navy UNREP systems. + Installing, repairing, and maintaining ship's fluid systems including pumps, compressors, purifiers, heat exchangers, actuators, and valves. + Tests equipment to ensure systems meet specifications and installs and tests various shop equipment. + Toubleshooting and performing maintenance on boilers, pumps, and valves. + Perform major and specialized mechanical overhaul and repair work on gasoline and marine engines, outboard motors, and related marine equipment + Utilizes schematic charts and technical manuals. + Establishing and maintaining a preventive maintenance program for marine engines and related marine research equipment + Operate hand and power tools associated with marine engine and equipment repair + Assist in the fabrication of equipment. **Hard Skills** + Maintaining and repairing propulsion systems + Installing and repairing fluid systems + Testing and troubleshooting marine equipment + Overhauling and repairing gasoline and marine engines + Establishing preventive maintenance programs + Operating hand and power tools + Fabricating equipment **Soft Skills** + Attention to detail + Problem-solving + Technical aptitude + Teamwork + Communication **Work Site** + This is a fully on-site position in San Diego, California. **Work Environment** + Work will be performed in the shipyards of San Diego, CA. **About Aerotek:** We know that finding work is hard, and finding meaningful work is harder.
