Working Foreman leads and directs groups of workers while performing same duties as workers. Receives instructions and work specifications from Supervisor and transmits them to workers. Performs other related tasks as assigned, some of which may become essential to the position.
Qualifications Standards
Two to four years experience as a Journeyman with previous lead or supervisory experience required. Must comprehend written and verbal instructions (in English). Must be able to hear warning signals, read and comprehend safety instructions, regulations and warnings. Required to communicate effectively. Other requirements will vary according to the trade classification. See trade class job description for specific information. Must be able to work at heights, confined spaces, and any assigned shift.
Essential Job Tasks
Motivate workers to meet production standards Assist workers and leadman to solve work-related problem Assign and explains tasks to leadman Inspect machines, equipment, incoming materials and completed work Adhere to general and area specific safety rules and policies and report violations accordingly Other job duties as may be assigned relevant to the underlying trade

Physical/Mental Involvement
Frequent to continuous lifting of equipment weighting 50 pounds or more. Standing, balancing, walking, climbing ladders or equipment, reaching above shoulder or out in front, manual dexterity, pushing, pulling, kneeling, bending, crouching, seeing, hearing and occasionally lowering self into confined spaces, crawling through small openings and working in reclined positions, as needed. Works in all areas of the shipyard and on board ships. Hearing warning signals and reading and comprehending safety instructions. Must be able to maintain general safety awareness and avoid hazards commonly present in employee’s work area.
Marginal Job Tasks
General housekeeping in work areas. May be required to attend safety, quality and/or process improvement meetings.
Environmental Factors
Exposure to fumes, odors, dust, gases, various climates and temperatures, and low ventilation conditions, all of which can cause discomfort and/or respiratory difficulties. Exposure to constantly moving machines and mechanical parts and high levels of constant noise and various lighting conditions.
PAY SCALE
$33.36 - $36.71
This pay range is a reasonable estimate of the hourly range for this role. It takes into account the wide range of factors considered in making compensation decisions; including but not limited to skill sets, experience, training, and education.
