We currently have an exciting full time career opportunity available to join the HKNC team as a Overnight Awake in our Destiny Home. Responsible for providing support to the residents at Destiny Home in the areas of communication, fire evacuation, personal management, home management, wardrobe management, behavior support and in emergency situations. This staff ensures the home is clean and meets the OPWDD requirements for a sanitary environment by completing daily cleaning tasks including surface and deep cleaning.
Schedule: Monday-Friday
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
+ Provide consistent instruction in the following areas: personal grooming, communication, wardrobe management, home management and behavior support under guidance of the Program Advisor and the Assistant Program Advisor.
+ Participation in programming which consistently promotes an atmosphere conducive to the growth of all consumers and encourages maximum independence in all areas of living.
+ Provides consistent regular checks on all consumers during overnight shift, ensuring safety and well-being.
+ Participates in team meetings sharing relevant observations with the instructional and clinical team as assigned. Cooperates in the team effort to assist the consumer in meeting his/her individual goals.
+ Assists consumers with safe evacuation in the event of an emergency. Participates in regularly scheduled drills to prepare for such emergencies. Checks on the security of the home from outside weather elements, strangers, etc.
+ Maintains daily, weekly and or monthly observation reports as required.
+ Shares responsibility for the equipment and general appearance of the home area.
+ Completes daily cleaning tasks including surface and deep cleaning to ensure compliance with OPWDD regulations for a clean and sanitary environment. Documents on the cleaning checklist according to the daily and weekly cleaning schedule.
+ Completes left over shift responsibilities from the 4pm -12am shift.
+ Accompanies and serves as a guide and/or a facilitator of communication for consumers and professional staff members, when assigned. To accomplish this, it may be required to use personal vehicle on occasion.
+ Dispenses consumer medications after passing the AMAP course. Must become AMAP certified and maintain this certification as a condition of continued employment in this position.
+ Becomes CPR and First Aid certified.
+ Supports the DBIE as needed to demonstrate strategies and techniques to support an individual.
REQUIRED EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
+ Associates Degree, or completion of two years of college (60 credits) preferably within the education or health related field of study.
+ One year of experience working with individuals who are DeafBlind, blind, deaf or individuals with multiple disabilities.
+ High school diploma and four years of paid experience as a residence/group home aide working with individuals who have intellectual disabilities.
