OVERNIGHT MANAGER

PURPOSE:
In collaboration with the Home Manager, Home Manager On-Call, and Director the Overnight Manager is directly responsible for the implementation and support of the daily operations of the Children’s Residential program on the overnight shift. Daily operations include, but are not limited to, ensuring staff coverage to meet required state licensing, youth attend scheduled routine and emergency appointments, manages resources including transportation and supplies, and any other program support needs are met. As a key member of the residential team, the Overnight Manager assists with maintaining adequate staffing and shift coverage each night in the program. The Overnight Manager provides direct supervision to overnight direct care staff in collaboration with the assigned Home Manager On-call. This position will ensure safety is observed, program implementation occurs as scheduled, and issues related to maintenance of the physical facilities are communicated and followed up with to maintain healthy and safe living space. The Overnight Manager ensures all DHS, DCFS, and ISBE rules and regulations are met. Position will require ability to work in the High Intense Homes, a flexible schedule including holidays and weekends when need arises.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The list of essential duties and responsibilities, as outlined herein, is intended to be representative of the task to be performed. The omission of an essential function does not preclude management from assigning duties not listed herein is such duties are a logical assignment to the position.
1. Works in collaboration with Home Managers in coordinating day-to-day operations of the Residential homes and is the point of contact for      overnight needs.
2. In collaboration and with the approval of the assigned Home Manager On-Call, will provide oversight to all staff issues including, but not         limited to, supervising, mentoring, of overnight staff. In cases of emergency, coordinates appropriate staffing allocation for all children’s           group homes to ensure required home staff to youth ratios and youth needs are met to include enhanced support. When warranted,               under the requirements of the Collective Bargaining Agreement will reassign LSIs and RBSs and SRBSs.
3. Accountable for ensuring the completion of all shift documentation including but not limited to Awards entries, Shift Summaries, Home            Logs, Transportation Logs, supply forms, ECP/MARs, Food Service Logs,
4. Maintains optimal relationship with LSI’s and RBSs working on overnight shift and develops a “team” approach to include holding team           meetings, at a minimum, once per month to discuss issues pertaining to the overnight shift and the youth.
5. Identifies “red flag” issues with youth and their environments and adjusts operation practices to mitigate (i.e., moving youth program in           other homes, moving furniture from the home due to safety hazards, etc.)
6. Responsible for being available to all homes for front line support and back-up in accordance with the On-Call Management rotation, this      may include weekends and holidays.
7. Ensures all next day activity schedules or youth related materials are completed, youth communication devices, youth cell phones, home      cell phones, youth and staff iPads, and walkie talkies are charged and/or any other materials needed for youth are prepared.
8. Ensures assigned staff clean homes and complete laundry during overnight shift as identified on the overnight checklist; ensures clothes         are folded and labeled to the child they are assigned and put away.
9. Reports any maintenance needs, including maintenance requests and follows up as needed.
10. When present during mealtime, ensures appropriate food distribution and contacts Food Services when necessary. Completes group            home rounds to ensure Active Engagement is followed, activities are implemented
11. Assists with programmatic crisis intervention support to youth and debrief with staff when needed. Follows up on resolution of critical             incidents ensuring all pertinent and required information is collected, including, but not limited to, incident reports, injury reports, NCI               restraint documentation, staff witness accounts, and any other relevant information completed are entered/submitted prior to leaving the          shift if any incidents occurred.
12. Participates in the development of quality improvement measures to ensure best practices and evaluates their effectiveness.
13. Ensures compliance and working knowledge of, DHS Waiver, DCFS Rules and Procedures, and CARF standards. Maintains a working          knowledge of the Collective Bargaining Agreement and operates within the contractual agreement.
14. Protects the confidentiality of people served by the agency.
15. Maintains awareness of safety; monitors activities in the workplace and immediately report all accidents and safety hazards to the Home        Manager, Director.
16. Conducts staff training as needed and/or ensures that the staff trainings needs are met to work with the youth in the home. Ensures that        staff remains in compliance with training and driving requirements. Provides regular consultation, on the job training/coaching, and                performance feedback to staff during Overnight shift as needed.
17. Successfully completes Little City required training, re-training, and any additional training as required by Little City policies and                       practices, or as assigned by his or her immediate supervisor.
18. Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
