Overview
Sojourner House mission is offering compassionate, faith-based recovery services to women and their children.
The Recovery Support Specialist (RSS) provides residents in recovery, and their children, with awake, 24-hours per day, 7-days per week, supportive services including education, guidance, monitoring and supervision of daily activities to ensure safety and adherence to program rules, regulations, and guidelines. RSS’s demonstrate and implement the Sojourner House philosophy, principles, and procedures assuring quality in all facets of performance.
*This position is part-time and working hours are weekends (Friday - Sunday) 10:30pm to 6:30am*
Primary Responsibilities:
+ Completing shift reports, email, cleaning logs, etc. for important information and or tasks.
+ Securing the facility (i.e. ensuring doors/windows are closed and locked, alarms are set).
+ Performs periodic rounds and apartment inspections every two hours.
+ Preparation and housekeeping of apartments (i.e. washing linen, cleaning kitchen, sweeping/mopping floors, moving furniture, removing items from apartments such as garbage, etc.)
+ Maintain cleanliness of all common areas.
+ Filing and organizing documents when applicable.
+ Medication crossover/debrief with relief.
Position Qualifications :
+ Required: The ability to engage clients in a professional and courteous manner along with the ability to prioritize and balance tasks.
+ Understanding of gender-responsive, trauma-informed and recovery oriented systems of care.
+ Because of our mission statement, must be supportive of faith-based approaches.
+ Model and support clients and staff in health and wellness activities and with using healthy coping skills.
+ Support organization’s mission with a sensitivity of cultural diversity and workplace harmony.
+ Must be able to interact with clients while maintaining a positive, professional, and client-focused manner with a diverse population.
+ Experience with using Microsoft Word, email and administrative duties.
+ Ability to maintain a positive, solution-focused demeanor when responding to conflicts or problems.
+ Ability to secure Act 33 and 34 clearances/ Must obtain annual PPD test and first aid/CPR certification.
+ Valid PA driver’s license and a bility to drive program van/vehicle as needed.
Education/Experience:
+ High school diploma or equivalent with at least one year of applicable paid experience required.
+ AS or BS Degree in human services, or related field plus at least one year of paid experience preferred.
