The Position

People & Culture Country Operations Specialist

Location: Zagreb, Croatia

We are looking for an experienced and motivated People & Culture Country Operations Specialist to join our team. In this role, you will be part of the P&C Chapter and work closely with colleagues to address operational HR challenges and opportunities. By working in a multidisciplinary team in an agile way, you will contribute to ensuring Roche’s People Practices effectively support both the business and employees.

As a P&C Country Operations Specialist, you will be responsible for employee lifecycle management, payroll and benefits administration, absence management, and providing advisory support to employees and managers. You will focus on end-to-end HR processes, ensuring compliance, accuracy, and continuous improvement. You will act as a trusted partner to internal and external stakeholders, playing a key role in enhancing the employee experience and HR operations.

We are looking for someone with excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities. You have experience with HR systems, stakeholder management, and an eagerness to improve processes and contribute to the overall success of our team.

Your responsibilities:

Payroll, time, and benefits management:

Administer payroll and benefits, ensuring timely and accurate data management.

Handle inquiries, troubleshoot issues, and manage reporting and auditing activities.

Liaise with external vendors (e.g., ADP Celergo, Deloitte) and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.

Manage the payroll calendar and approve payroll files.

Employee lifecycle and operations:

Prepare and maintain employment contracts, manage terminations, and issue legal documentation (e.g., certificates, reference letters).

Oversee local onboarding and offboarding activities.

Support international assignees and manage relationships with government institutions.

Ensure accurate data entry and administration in Workday and other HR systems.

Continuous improvement and advisory:

Contribute to process improvements, update documentation, and ensure knowledge sharing within the team.

Actively participate in and lead project activities where required.

Provide advisory support to employees and managers, ensuring alignment with Roche People Practices.

What we’re looking for:

A university degree and a minimum of 3 years of HR experience, preferably as an HR Generalist.

Experience with HRIS systems (Workday is a plus).

Strong communication skills in Croatian and English (Slovenian is a plus).

A customer-focused mindset with the ability to manage complex HR processes.

Problem-solving skills, critical thinking, and attention to detail.

The ability to thrive in a dynamic, multicultural environment and manage multiple priorities.
