P/T Program Specialist (WCC)/ Workforce Navigator (WDCE)
Location: Valhalla, NY Category: Hourly Positions Posted On: Mon Sep 9 2024 Job Description: Reporting to the Assistant Dean in Workforce Development and Community Education, the incumbent in this position will implement and oversee a private funded grant program and activities that provide educational services to students of WCC. The P/T Program Specialist will be responsible for oversight of promotion of and entry into the program. In addition, the P/T Program Specialist will oversee all aspects of the program from entry through final outcomes for each participant. Major Responsibilities/Activities: + Maintains Continuous Engagement: Actively liaises with grant partners including local administrations, faculty, community organizations, and employers to ensure alignment with program goals and objectives. This includes facilitating sector partnerships and assembling advisory boards in construction and healthcare to guide curriculum development and job readiness. + Monitors Program Delivery: Ensures consistent execution of all program components, with a special emphasis on making career pathways visible to all non-credit students. + Promotes Workforce Programs: Oversees the promotion of and entry into short-term workforce training programs, ensuring they meet community and industry needs as defined by sector partnerships. + Tracks Student Progress: Monitors and records students' progress throughout the program, from enrollment in short-term workforce training to employment placement and retention, ensuring that pathways to employment are effective and lead to sustainable job opportunities. + Facilitates Information Sessions: Provides sessions to inform the public and prospective students about the program objectives, outcomes, and benefits, with a focus on career opportunities in high-demand sectors. + Coordinates Educational Resources: Plans and organizes guest speakers from the construction and healthcare industries, facilitates access to tuition and other instructional materials, and ensures that students are supported throughout their educational journey. + Documents and Reports Progress: Compiles and submits monthly reports and periodic evaluations to document and assess the program's progress toward meeting its objectives and outcomes. This includes preparing for and submitting interim and final reports as per grant requirements. + All other duties as assigned, including direct support for event organization such as Career/Job Fairs and Employer Advisory Council meetings to foster ongoing employer engagement and community involvement. Job Requirements: REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: A minimum of a Bachelor's degree and two years of experience in the field of education, educational administration, recruitment and/or training, or in the analysis of program operations, marketing or customer services. Satisfactory completion of 30 credits towards a Master's degree may be substituted for each year of experience. All candidates must have evidence of responsiveness to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students, as these factors relate to the need for equity-minded practice. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Previous workforce development and grant management experience strongly preferred. Additional Information: WORK SCHEDULE: The work schedule is 28 hours per week. SALARY & BENEFITS: The hourly rate of pay is $34.60/hour, no benefits.
