Job Description
The Paint Engineer is responsible for the design, development, implementation, and continuous improvement of paint tooling, equipment, and paint manufacturing processes. This role ensures optimal performance, quality, and efficiency of paint systems while supporting production teams and cross-functional initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
Tooling Design & DevelopmentDesign and specify paint tooling, fixtures, and equipment for new and existing products.Collaborate with design, manufacturing, and quality teams to ensure tooling meets performance and safety standards.Process OptimizationAnalyze paint application processes to identify opportunities for improvement in cycle time, quality, and cost.Implement lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement initiatives.Project ManagementLead paint department projects from concept through implementation, including budgeting, scheduling, and vendor coordination.Support new product launches with tooling readiness and validation.Technical SupportProvide hands-on support to production teams for troubleshooting paint tooling and equipment issues.Train operators and maintenance personnel on proper use and care of paint tooling.Quality & ComplianceEnsure tooling and processes comply with internal quality standards and external regulations (e.g., OSHA, EPA).Conduct root cause analysis and corrective actions for paint-related defects.Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or related field.2+ years of experience in tooling, manufacturing engineering, or related role.Knowledge of paint systems (liquid, powder, robotic application) and related equipment.Strong problem-solving and project management skills.Excellent communication and collaboration abilities.Preferred Skills:
Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, OnShape).Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Adobe Illustrator.Familiarity with Six Sigma or Lean Manufacturing methodologies.Working Conditions:
Primarily on-site in a manufacturing environment.Occasional travel to vendors or other facilities may be required.Trek Benefits:
