SummaryProvide electrical engineering expertise and direction for equipment and control systems, utilized in the Utility generation and transmission of electric power (high-medium-low voltage power, metering, control, security and fire alarm) ; and/or Customer utilization electrical systems (medium-low voltage power, control and fire alarm).
Develop solutions for electrical power and control systems in generation, transmission, substation, planning, metering or Customer utilization sites as assigned. Ensures that standards of quality, economics, safety, reliability, maintainability, timeliness and performance are met throughout all engineering activities.
Responsibilities Provide responsible engineer function in support of a limited range of design modification projects, equipment applications and failure research, engineering studies, and operations and maintenance activities & practices Perform field visits to observe or support construction and maintenance activities and administer basic on-site technical support. Perform occasional emergency response, including outside of normal business hours. Coordinate work with other disciplines and departments for the successful development and execution of projects and/or O&M activities Perform research on applicable codes, standards and procedures and apply to work tasks appropriately. Perform inspections and evaluations to ensure engineering requirements and Authority specifications are satisfied.Metering Group
Support the review and validation of operational and revenue meter systems data collection and reporting Interface within NYPA and external agencies to support settlement and reporting activities.Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Basic competency in the design, operation and maintenance of electrical systems specific to the electric utility, or commercial/industrial industry, along with their various systems and components Competent in the use of Microsoft Office applications. Basic verbal and written communication skills. Ability to effectively manage and prioritize multiple projects with guidance. Familiarity with applicable codes, standards, and regulations. Ability to perform basic engineering calculations, and adapt standard specifications, scopes of work, reports, and design packages to specific projects. Education, Experience and Certifications Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering, or equivalent, from an accredited college or university. Minimum of two (2) years related work experience. Physical Requirements Approximately 25% travel, primarily within NY State Willingness to enter confined spaces and climb/scale power system apparatuses is required.

The salary offered will be determined based on the successful candidates’ relevant experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities.
