Job Summary Corewell Health West has a unique opportunity for a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to pilot a pediatric focused APP clinical role in Urgent Care. This is a pilot position that combines clinical expertise with leadership development in establishing pediatric guidelines within urgent care. Clinical expectations 3 days/week 8a-8p, majority Monday and Friday, every third weekend, one holiday annually. In addition to clinical responsibilities, this role will partner with UC leadership to develop clinical standards, recommendations, and education in partnership with primary health and HDVCH. The ideal candidate will have 3+ years of pediatric experience, preferably in primary care. Strong recommendation for PNP or FNP; will consider PA with pediatric focus background/experience. Qualifications: PA/NP programs; preferred pediatric focused. 3+ years pediatric primary care experience preferred. Location: Rockford primary; South Pavilion secondary POC testing to include: + Influenza + Covid + Strep + Mono + UA / urine pregnancy + Blood glucose + Procedures: + Suturing, laceration repair, uncomplicated wound closure + I&D + Digital block + Stabilization of fractures and uncomplicated dislocations + Cerumen removal + Epistaxis management + Removal of non-penetrating foreign body of eye, nose, ear + Nail trephination + Treatment of burns, superficial or partial thickness + Bladder catheterization Under physician supervision, provides medical care to patients of varying type and acuity. Essential Functions + Functions in the role of physician assistant to coordinate comprehensive care delivery. Writes orders/prescriptions medications, durable medical equipment, physical therapy, laboratory, radiographic studies and consultations, coordinating diagnostic evaluations, follow-up exams, laboratory tests, referrals to home care, social services, and other community agencies, etc., in order to ensure appropriate continuity of care and coordination of services. + Obtains histories and performs physical exams. + Assesses the patients/significant other, health care team, school and other community educational needs and develops, implements, evaluates and revises teaching strategies/educational programs related to area of specialty. + Acts as a patient advocate, crossing multidisciplinary lines to meet patient needs. Communicates, collaborates, networks with and acts as a consultant to other members of the health care team within and outside Spectrum Health. Acts as a consult in area of expertise. + Maintains current knowledge and skills in areas pertinent to the delivery of urgent care medicine. + Able to perform all waived laboratory tests provided on premises in urgent care environment. Performs and assists with designated procedures. + Documents in the medical record and dictates information as appropriate in a timely manner. Completes all necessary documentation to provide accurate and efficient billing for services. + Provides input into the strategic planning, implementation and evaluation of service/program.
