Job Description

If you enjoy working technical puzzles and solving challenging issues, this is the position for you!  This is a great opportunity to join a technical support team responsible for Level 2 front-line web application support.  Responsibilities include reviewing client reported defects to determine root cause; identifying technical solutions; assisting Level 3 application support with the solution. You will interact directly with other support areas across the SS&C organization to troubleshoot, as well as partner with our external clients and their end-users.  You will participate in critical outage calls for incident response, and use monitoring tools to interpret results of application health and performance of our critical applications.  You will work in front-end languages to support these applications, and may contribute to minor system enhancements. You will serve as a resource for less experienced team members.

Analyze and design software break fixes and minor enhancements to existing products in cloud-based web applications or mobile applications.Solve complex problems; bring a new perspective using existing solutions.Work on multiple broke fixes simultaneously.Close existing software defects with root cause documentation.Consult with development teams on solution design and potential roadblocks.Use current programming languages and technologies, leverage BDD (Behavior Drive Development)/TDD (Test Driven Development) methodologies, perform testing and debugging of applications to identify root cause, and identify programming and/or data modifications.Review code developed by others to provide feedback on standards and solution adherence.Interact with end-users, including the clients and internal users, to define system requirements and/or necessary modifications on applications with the highest degree of client exposure.Translate and document functional requirements into proper system requirement specifications.Adhere to Software Engineering and Information Security Controls; align with enterprise architectural strategies.As knowledge in our application grows, work independently, with guidance only in complex situations.Mentor others and be sought out by less experienced associates for product, application analysis, and coding knowledge.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in computer-related discipline (e.g., Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, Management Information Systems, Mathematics, Engineering, etc.)4-5 years’ experience with the following technologies:Java, Servlet, JavaScript, HTML, CSS, XML, Spring MVC, Angular, PythonRestful Services, PostmanStored procedures integrationPostgres, SQL, or AIX databases and queriesCI/CD and cloud technologies, preferably with GitHub actions

Preferred Qualifications

dotCMS, Apache Nifi, Apache Kafka, KeycloakMonitoring tools such as Prometheus, Loki, Grafana, AlertSite, Glowroot, Wily IntroscopeLinux/Unix skills Good understanding of networkingMobile application development and deploymentMainframe COBOL experience with batch processing or CICS viewsTSO, File-Aid for DB2, File-Aid Manager, JCL
