Description:We are seeking a Packaging Design Engineering Intern to support Lockheed Martin Space - Production Operations. The selected candidate will be part of the Product Protection Engineering team within the Lockheed Martin (LM) Production Engineering & Processes organization supporting Denver PHST operations

Summary of Key Duties for this position:

• Developing Packaging (PHST) Design Solutions for critical spacecraft hardware
• Development of technical drawings, manufacturing work instructions and fabrication plans for use in Packaging and Product Protection initiatives
• Applicant will interface and coordinate with Hardware Engineers, Manufacturing Engineers, CPEs, and Logistics Engineering to ensure that schedule milestones and deliverables are addressed and achieved through Packaging (PHST) Design Solutions.
• Individual must be comfortable in a production environment, performing technical drawing review and support, managing high-value assets, and assisting with transportation/logistics initiatives.
• This position requires strong interpersonal and communication skills, both oral and written.
Basic Qualifications:
• Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's degree program majoring in Aerospace, Industrial, Mechanical, or Electrical engineering or related discipline that a focusses on Advanced Manufacturing curriculum
• Experience with Creo Parametric or equivalent CAD software
• Experience with general wood as an engineering material, including basic terminology
• Prefer a local resident of the Denver metropolitan area, with a permanent address within a 50-mile radius of the Lockheed Martin Space Waterton facility in Littleton, CO
Desired Skills:
• Experience with Military and Industry standards relative to packaging design and fabrication (i.e., ASTM D6251, ASTM D6256, ASTM D7478, ASTM D6039, MIL-STD-2073, MIL-STD-810 and other related specifications and standards)
• Experience with the application of ASME Y14.5 and Y14.100 drafting standards and practices
• Experience with Military Preservation and Packaging (SPIs, Data Item Descriptions, Packaging and Preservation Plans)
• Ability to understand, interpret and apply industry standards.
• Experience with packaging and handling of high-value spacecraft critical hardware
• Experience with contamination control sensitive hardware (ESD, Shock, UV, Vibration, Humidity, Corrosion, etc.)
• Experience with the Creo View and Creo Illustrate.
• Experience with hazardous materials regulations (49CFR, IATA, AFMAN, etc.)
• Experience with process specifications, manufacturing processes and product-specific requirements
• Familiarity with SAP Production Orders
• Experience with VE-CAMs for Production Routers and Operations
• Experience performing and conducting peer reviews
• Ability to perform static stress calculations in determining shock and vibration attenuation

Ability to Work Remotely: Onsite Full-time: The work associated with this position will be performed onsite at a designated Lockheed Martin facility.
Work Schedules: Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.

Pay Rate: The annual base salary range for this position in California and New York (excluding most major metropolitan areas), Colorado, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, Washington or Washington DC is $20,904 - $61,672. For states not referenced above, the salary range for this position will reflect the candidate’s final work location. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only. Lockheed Martin considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/ training, key skills as well as market and business considerations when extending an offer. Benefits offered: Medical, Dental, Vision, Life Insurance, Short-Term Disability, Long-Term Disability, 401(k) match, Flexible Spending Accounts, EAP, Education Assistance, Parental Leave, Paid time off, and Holidays. (Washington state applicants only) Non-represented full-time employees: accrue at least 10 hours per month of Paid Time Off (PTO) to be used for incidental absences and other reasons; receive at least 90 hours for holidays. Represented full time employees accrue 6.67 hours of Vacation per month; accrue up to 52 hours of sick leave annually; receive at least 96 hours for holidays. PTO, Vacation, sick leave, and holiday hours are prorated based on start date during the calendar year.
